You don't have to sacrifice the image quality of anatomy in order to visualize the needle. GE Healthcare has developed B-Steer Plus technology which combines two GE technologies, B-Steer and CrossXBeam, so you can see both anatomy and the needle in one image with amazing clarity.

Ultrasound images best when the target is struck at 90 degrees. Steering the beam to better visualize the needle typically causes some anatomical information to be lost. But, with B-Steer Plus, you can have great needle visualization without compromising the anatomical detail ensuring that you'll see the needle and the nerve with excellent clarity.
